DESCRIPTION:Open to all nordic walkers. \nSherwood Pines is the largest forest open to the public in the East Midlands with over 3\,300 acres to discover. It’s a centre for wide variety of outdoor activities from a relaxed stroll to Go Ape Tree Top Adventure and much\, much more. \nJoin Sherwood Nordic Walking as we follow the Ranger’s Path around the woodlands\, or maybe a slightly different route if diversions are in place due to felling. The terrain is mostly firm with a slight gradients in places. \nPlease car share for this walk as parking at Sherwood Pines carpark is currently £6 for up to 2 hours \, £9 for 3 hours and £10 thereafter! DESCRIPTION:Following on from the British Nordic Walking conference Team Sherwood Nordic Walking are inspired and ready to teach you the best nordic walking technique and get the most out of the activities we offer. \nThis 3-part course is suitable for beginners and current members and will teach you all you need to know to enjoy the International Nordic Walking (INWA) technique. \nSession 1 introduces you to the nordic walking poles and their features before moving on to learn the few basic steps of the INWA 10-step technique. We will cover posture\, pole position and arm swing. \nSession 2 will take place on Wednesday 15th November 9.30am. You do not need to book these sessions separately. The payment for Session 1 is for all three sessions. \nSession 3 takes place on Wednesday 22nd November 9.30am. \nPoles are available to use free of charge but please bring your own if you have the correct equipment. \nNew beginners will need to complete a PAR-Q health questionnaire prior to taking part. DESCRIPTION:Let’s enjoy a ‘hygge’ [Hooga] nordic walk in the RSPB’s Sherwood Forest. This not-so-fast session will enable us to appreciate our beautiful surroundings\, breathe in the pure air and immerse ourselves in nature. SUMMARY:*Cancelled* Friday Special to Anston Stones Woods and Green Bean Bistro
DESCRIPTION:We start this adventure walk at Anston Parish Hall in the village of Anston. \nAnston Stones wood supports a variety of habitats\, including woodland\, the majority of which is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)\, calcareous grassland\, scrub and wetland. The woodland is the second best example of limestone woodland in South Yorkshire. \nThe limestone grassland within the woods are also of botanical importance. There is also a Geological Trail with good examples of limestone gorges\, supporting a variety of rare plants and animals. \nDead Man’s cave is reached via the walkway to the gorge\, this cave excavated in the 1960’s revealed ancient flint tools from the ice age and animal bones from animals such reindeer and hyena. \nThis walk can be very muddy so be prepared with spare shoes and gaiters if you have them! \nIf anyone who would like lunch after the walk please let me know and a table can be reserved at The Green Bean Coffee Shop and Bistro just a short drive up the road. \nDistance: 4-5 miles \nAscent \nLowest 233ft Highest 348ft \nTotal ascent 370ft \nNote \nThere are some steep steps.
