DESCRIPTION:Following on from the British Nordic Walking conference Team Sherwood Nordic Walking are inspired and ready to teach you the best nordic walking technique and get the most out of the activities we offer. \nThis 3-part course is suitable for beginners and current members and will teach you all you need to know to enjoy the International Nordic Walking (INWA) technique. \nSession 1 introduces you to the nordic walking poles and their features before moving on to learn the few basic steps of the INWA 10-step technique. We will cover posture\, pole position and arm swing. \nSession 2 will take place on Wednesday 15th November 9.30am. You do not need to book these sessions separately. The payment for Session 1 is for all three sessions. \nSession 3 takes place on Wednesday 22nd November 9.30am. \nPoles are available to use free of charge but please bring your own if you have the correct equipment. \nNew beginners will need to complete a PAR-Q health questionnaire prior to taking part. DESCRIPTION:Let’s enjoy a ‘hygge’ [Hooga] nordic walk in the RSPB’s Sherwood Forest. This not-so-fast session will enable us to appreciate our beautiful surroundings\, breathe in the pure air and immerse ourselves in nature. We will still be nordic walking at a fair pace but your Instructor will endeavour to keep the pace manageable whilst still getting a work out. \n\n\nMeeting at the RSPB visitor centre we will explore the ancient and wonderful Sherwood Forest\, home to 1\,000 ancient oak trees\, including the Major Oak. \n\n\nTo join this session you will have already completed nordic walking training. If you haven’t please get in touch\, or have a look at the training session dates at Thoresby Park. \n\n\nParking at the RSPB visitor carpark is across the road and is free for RSPB members (just place your membership card on. your dashboard). DESCRIPTION:This month our Friday special takes us over to Welbeck. \nBeginning at the Dukeries garden centre carpark\, please meet us on the lawn area for our warm up. \nWe will venture over to Creswell Crags and Creswell\, before looping back. \nThere is some steep terrain and also a stile to climb over. There is also a field that sometimes has cows in it. We will proceed with caution! \n  \nFollowing the walk we will go along and see the Portland Collection – fabulous 17th century paintings\, a few by Van Dyck\, as well as family silverware from the Dukes of Portland. DESCRIPTION:Let’s enjoy a ‘hygge’ nordic walk in the RSPB’s Sherwood Forest. This not-so-fast session will enable us to appreciate our beautiful surroundings\, breathe in the pure air and immerse ourselves in nature. We will still be nordic walking at a fair pace but your Instructor will endeavour to keep the pace manageable whilst still getting a work out. \n\n\nMeeting at the RSPB visitor centre we will explore the ancient and wonderful Sherwood Forest\, home to 1\,000 ancient oak trees\, including the Major Oak. \n\n\nTo join this session you will have already completed nordic walking training. If you haven’t please get in touch\, or have a look at the training session dates at Thoresby Park. \n\n\nThere are free carparks available in the village of Edwinstowe. SUMMARY:Thoresby Leaf Kick 5k\, 10k\, 10 mile or half marathon
DESCRIPTION:The award winning event Thoresby Leaf Kick is back for their 9th annual autumnal trail run in the beautiful grounds of Thoresby Park\, north Nottinghamshire offering distances of  5k\, 10k\, 10 mile\, half marathon for nordic walkers. \nRunning over old military roads\, cleared tracks through ancient woodland and grassed paths around the country estate. The route includes a few hills to offer a small challenge around the course in the most scenic countryside as well as the forest & past the lake. Look out for the Longhorn Cattle of Thoresby Estate\, who usually roam free in the forest\, in their restricted fields for the race. \nSTANDARD ONLINE ENTRIES CLOSE FRI 15th SEPTEMBER  – so that race numbers can be ordered \nThe 10k route is the same as well known ‘The Longhorn’ but in reverse. The 10 mile race is the 10k route with an extra 4 miles added through different parts of the ancient woodland. Half marathon is 2 laps of the 10k route with a pretty diversion on each lap to extend to distance. \nThey are also offering a 5k run / walk for all levels. The route takes you on some grass past the beautiful church at Perlethorpe\, on tarmac through the village & back onto the main field in front of Thoresby Hall. This event can be a gentle stroll with the family or a race to get your 5km PB. The 5km race is 2 loops of the course. \nNordic Walkers are very welcome. Please ensure you enter under the specific category you wish to be with. We will wind our way along a country lane and through open farmland until we reach the spectacular Creswell Crags. DESCRIPTION:Would you like to learn how to nordic walk? This 3-part course will teach you all you need to know to enjoy the International Nordic Walking (INWA) technique. \nSession 1 introduces you to the nordic walking poles and their features before moving on to learn the few basic steps of the INWA 10-step technique. We will cover posture\, pole position\, arm swing and forward propulsion. \nSession 2 will take place on Wednesday 11th October 9.30am. You do not need to book these sessions separately.
