DESCRIPTION:Would you like to learn how to nordic walk? This 3-part course will teach you all you need to know to enjoy the International Nordic Walking (INWA) technique. \nSession 1 introduces you to the nordic walking poles and their features before moving on to learn the few basic steps of the INWA 10-step technique. We will cover posture\, pole position\, arm swing and forward propulsion. \nSession 2 will take place on Tuesday 28th February 1pm and Session 3 on Tuesday 7th March 1pm. You do not need to book these sessions separately. The payment for Session 1 is for all three sessions. \nPoles are available to use free of charge. \nYou will need to complete a PAR-Q health questionnaire prior to taking part. DESCRIPTION:Let’s enjoy a ‘hygge’ nordic walk in the RSPB’s Sherwood Forest. This not-so-fast session will enable us to appreciate our beautiful surroundings\, breathe in the pure air and immerse ourselves in nature. We will still be nordic walking at a fair pace but your Instructor will endeavour to keep the pace manageable whilst still getting a work out. \n\n\nMeeting at the RSPB visitor centre we will explore the ancient and wonderful Sherwood Forest\, home to 1\,000 ancient oak trees\, including the Major Oak. \n\n\nTo join this session you will have already completed nordic walking training. If you haven’t please get in touch\, or have a look at the training session dates at Thoresby Park. \n\n\nThere are free carparks available in the village of Edwinstowe. DESCRIPTION:This reserve consists of a beautiful 450 hectare network of lakes\, wetland\, grassland and scrub. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife and is recognised as one of the richest birding sites in the region. SUMMARY:Adventure to Anston Stones Woods
DESCRIPTION:We start this walk at Anston Parish Hall in the village of Anston. \nAnston Stones wood supports a variety of habitats\, including woodland\, the majority of which is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)\, calcareous grassland\, scrub and wetland. The woodland is the second best example of limestone woodland in South Yorkshire. \nThe limestone grassland within the woods are also of botanical importance. There is also a Geological Trail with good examples of limestone gorges\, supporting a variety of rare plants and animals. \nDead Man’s cave is reached via the walkway to the gorge\, this cave excavated in the 1960’s revealed ancient flint tools from the ice age and animal bones from animals such reindeer and hyena. \nThis walk can be very muddy so be prepared with spare shoes and gaiters if you have them! \nIf anyone who would like lunch after the walk please let me know and a table can be reserved at The Green Bean Coffee Shop and Bistro just up the road. \nDistance: 4-5 miles \nAscent Lowest 233ft Highest 348ft Total ascent 370ft \nNote \nThere are some steep steps. \n  \nLATE CANCELLATION POLICY: Sherwood Nordic Walking has a late cancellation policy whereby we require 24 hours’ notice for cancelling a walk.
