DESCRIPTION:Sherwood Nordic Walking are taking part in parkwalk at parkrun with our poles – want to join us?   \nRegistration is free and you can do it here. You will create an account and be issued with your unique barcode. You will need to bring this with you on the day either on your phone or as a print out. \nOur local parkrun is at Clumber Park. All parkruns take place at 9am on Saturdays. \nWhere to park: Enter Clumber Park at your usual entrance and then turn left just before the cricket pavilion to follow the track and park on the overflow field.\nWhere to meet: From the carpark walk alongside the walled garden towards Central Bark\nWhat time: Let’s meet at Central Bark at 8.45am and we can warm up together\nWhat next: The organisers gather newbies around and explain how it works just before the event begins\nAnd we are off: The run/walk starts at 9am ish\nHow far: The course is 2 laps of 1.5 miles\, so yes\, we will be lapped by the runners. \nAs nordic walkers we are very welcome to take part. We will start at the back of the runners and be mindful of those around us. As the course is two laps we will be lapped by the runners\, so when this happens we must ensure that we stick to the right side of the path in order for them to pass us safely. This is particularly important as we approach the finish section. \nAt the end of the two laps\, we will enter a finish ‘funnel’ where we will need to show our barcode for it to be scanned. Our results (time\, speed\, comparison with others our age and sex) will be available online. \nLet me know if you need further explanation and if you’d like to join us.

DESCRIPTION:Let’s take it down a notch and enjoy a hygge nordic walk in the RSPB’s Sherwood Forest. This not-so-fast session will enable us to appreciate our surroundings. We will still be walking at a fair pace but your Instructor will endeavour to keep the pace manageable whilst still getting a work out. \n\n\nMeeting at the RSPB visitor centre we will explore the ancient and wonderful Sherwood Forest\, home to 1\,000 ancient oak trees\, including the Major Oak. \n\n\nTo join this session you will have already completed nordic walking training. \n\n\nThere are free carparks available in the village of Edwinstowe. DESCRIPTION:We are ending the nordic week with a feel good Friday Adventure going at a slightly toned down pace. Your Instructor or Walk Leader will ensure the pace is manageable\, not fast and not slow –  how Goldilocks would like it! Anyone with the urge to stride out will be encouraged to loop back. \nLangold Country Park is often overlooked\, but on our Adventure Walks I have discovered there is more there than just the lake. Ancient woodland and multiple pathways leading to hidden gems and spectacular views \nToday we will choose our route carefully based on the ground conditions. We may venture to Letwell or may go over to Hodsock. DESCRIPTION:This reserve consists of a beautiful 450 hectare network of lakes\, wetland\, grassland and scrub. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife and is recognised as one of the richest birding sites in the region. DESCRIPTION:Sherwood Nordic Walking are taking part in parkwalk at parkrun with our poles – want to join us?   \nRegistration is free and you can do it here. You will create an account and be issued with your unique barcode. You will need to bring this with you on the day either on your phone or as a print out. \nOur local parkrun is at Clumber Park. All parkruns take place at 9am on Saturdays. \nWhere to park: Enter Clumber Park at your usual entrance and then turn left just before the cricket pavilion to follow the track and park on the overflow field.\nWhere to meet: From the carpark walk alongside the walled garden towards Central Bark\nWhat time: Let’s meet at Central Bark at 8.45am and we can warm up together\nWhat next: The organisers gather newbies around and explain how it works just before the event begins\nAnd we are off: The run/walk starts at 9am ish\nHow far: The course is 2 laps of 1.5 miles\, so yes\, we will be lapped by the runners. \nAs nordic walkers we are very welcome to take part. We will start at the back of the runners and be mindful of those around us. As the course is two laps we will be lapped by the runners\, so when this happens we must ensure that we stick to the right side of the path in order for them to pass us safely. This is particularly important as we approach the finish section. \nAt the end of the two laps\, we will enter a finish ‘funnel’ where we will need to show our barcode for it to be scanned.
