DESCRIPTION:We are very fortunate to have Sherwood Pines as one of our Monday venues. As the largest forest open to the public in the East Midlands there are over 3\,300 acres to discover. It’s a centre for a wide variety of outdoor activities from a relaxed stroll to Go Ape Tree Top Adventure and much\, much more. \nJoin Sherwood Nordic Walking as we guide you along the Ranger’s Path and other fabulous routes around the forest. The terrain is mostly firm with a slight gradient in places. \nA parking code on the day will give you half price parking. SUMMARY:Fitness adventure at Anston Stones Woods
DESCRIPTION:Another challenging moderate-paced adventure with steep inclines and varied terrain. \nWe start this walk at Anston Parish Hall in the village of Anston. \nAnston Stones wood supports a variety of habitats\, including woodland\, the majority of which is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)\, calcareous grassland\, scrub and wetland. The woodland is the second best example of limestone woodland in South Yorkshire. \nThe limestone grassland within the woods are also of botanical importance. There is also a Geological Trail with good examples of limestone gorges\, supporting a variety of rare plants and animals. \nDead Man’s cave is reached via the walkway to the gorge\, this cave excavated in the 1960’s revealed ancient flint tools from the ice age and animal bones from animals such reindeer and hyena. \nThis walk can be very muddy so be prepared with spare shoes and gaiters if you have them! \nIf anyone who would like lunch after the walk please let me know and a table can be reserved at The Green Bean Coffee Shop and Bistro just up the road. \nDistance: 4-5 miles \nPace: Moderate \nAscent \nLowest 233ft Highest 348ft \nTotal ascent 370ft \nNote \nThere are some steep steps. \n\nLATE CANCELLATION POLICY: Sherwood Nordic Walking has a late cancellation policy whereby we require 24 hours’ notice for cancelling a walk booking. DESCRIPTION:As the official group of Clumber Park we know the 3\,800 acres very well. So come along for this nordic adventure walk and enjoy a varied nordic walk of 5-6 miles. No two weeks are the same! \nThe sessions at Clumber Park are moderate to fast paced\, and the group is well managed to suit. These sessions are not suitable for slower paced members. \nWe will meet at the main visitor’s carpark\, near the bicycle hire hub.
