DESCRIPTION:Welcome back to Idle Valley! And hello carpark too! \nThis reserve consists of a beautiful 450 hectare network of lakes\, wetland\, grassland and scrub. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife and is recognised as one of the richest birding sites in the region. DESCRIPTION:Following on from the Beginner’s Training Session Part 1 we begin with a recap of steps 1-5. We will move onto the hill technique and foot dynamics before progressing onto steps 6-10 where we add speed and intensity into the technique. Using specific drills to emphasise the correct movements and posture\, we will ensure we are getting a workout from our walk. DESCRIPTION:We start this walk at Anston Parish Hall in the village of Anston. This walk is shorter than our usual Adventures\, but has some challenging terrain. \nAnston Stones wood supports a variety of habitats\, including woodland\, the majority of which is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)\, calcareous grassland\, scrub and wetland. The woodland is the second best example of limestone woodland in South Yorkshire. \nThe limestone grassland within the woods are also of botanical importance. There is also a Geological Trail with good examples of limestone gorges\, supporting a variety of rare plants and animals. \nDead Man’s cave is reached via the walkway to the gorge\, this cave excavated in the 1960’s revealed ancient flint tools from the ice age and animal bones from animals such reindeer and hyena. \nThis walk is currently very muddy so be prepared with spare shoes and gaiters if you have them! \nA table has been reserved at The Green Bean Coffee Shop and Bistro just up the road\, for anyone who would like lunch after the walk. \nDistance: 3 miles \nAscent \nLowest 233ft Highest 348ft \nTotal ascent 370ft \n  \nNote \nThere are some steep steps.

We will cover posture\, pole position and forward propulsion. \nIn the second part of the session we will move onto hills and feet dynamics. \nAt the end of this session you will be ready to book onto our regular Adventure or Wellbeing Adventure walks depending on which one would suit you best. \nIf you want to learn the full technique\, then book onto our Intermediate Training Session where we will be completing Level 2 and using the poles to build speed and intensity into our nordic walking. \nPoles are provided free of charge. \nYou will need to complete a PAR-Q health questionnaire prior to taking part. \nCOVID-19 aware \nPlease let me know if you\, anyone in your household or anyone you have been in close contact with have developed symptoms that could be COVID-19 before you come on the walk so that I may cancel your place and issue your refund.  \nAlso please let me know if you test positive at any time after the walk so that I may provide participant details for Test and Trace purposes.
