DESCRIPTION:Come and join in on our Monday Adventure nordic walk around Clumber Park! \nSherwood Nordic Walking is visiting Clumber Park. With over 3\,800 acres of woods\, open heath and rolling farmland there are many walks to explore. This week we are starting our adventure from the Clumber Park Hotel carpark before crossing over the road and heading towards Hardwick Village. \nThe mobile drinks/snack van\, Lakeside Brew\, is located towards the end of our walk so bring your bank card if you would like to stop. There are also toilet facilities at this point. \nWe have permission to park at the Clumber Hotel carpark. Parking is free. I don’t know yet whether the hotel will be open for the facilities. \nLook out for my car tucked away in the corner. SUMMARY:Friday Adventure at Anston Stones Woods
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, we start this walk at Anston Parish Hall in the village of Anston (not the layby along the A60 as before). \nAnston Stones wood supports a variety of habitats\, including woodland\, the majority of which is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)\, calcareous grassland\, scrub and wetland. The woodland is the second best example of limestone woodland in South Yorkshire. \nThe limestone grassland within the woods are also of botanical importance. There is also a Geological Trail with good examples of limestone gorges\, supporting a variety of rare plants and animals. \nDead Man’s cave is reached via the walkway to the gorge\, this cave excavated in the 1960’s revealed ancient flint tools from the ice age and animal bones from animals such reindeer and hyena. \n  \nLet me know if you’d like to go to The Green Bean Coffee Shop and Bistro just up the road and I can try and reserve a table. \nDistance: 3 miles \nAscent \nLowest 233ft Highest 348ft \nTotal ascent 370ft \n  \nNOTE \nThere are some steep steps.

DESCRIPTION:This reserve consists of a beautiful 450 hectare network of lakes\, wetland\, grassland and scrub. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife and is recognised as one of the richest birding sites in the region. Look out for birds such as gadwall and little grebe in winter and breeding wading birds including little ringed plover and redshank in spring and summer. \nThis walk is flat\, but the challenge is in the terrain which varies with the seasons. \nDistance: 4.5 miles \n  \nCOVID-19 aware \nPlease let me know if you develop any symptoms that could be COVID-19 before you come on the walk so that I may cancel your place and issue your refund.  \nAlso please let me know if you test positive at any time after the walk so that I may provide you with participant details for Track and Trace purposes.

This gentle walk is suitable for newly trained nordic walkers those who want to build up to the longer or more vigorous walks or may have concerns about their health. \nSherwood Nordic Walking is visiting Clumber Park. With over 3\,800 acres of woods\, open heath and rolling farmland there are many walks to explore. This week we are starting our adventure from the Clumber Park Hotel carpark before crossing over the road and heading towards Hardwick Village. \nDistance: 2-3 miles \nTerrain: Generally flat \nNote: Please bring a cold drink \nThe mobile drinks/snack van is located towards the end of our walk so bring some change if you would like to stop.
