Mondays and Fridays are our Adventure walk days.
Come and explore North Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire on our 4-5 miles Adventure walks. We visit Clumber Park, the Chesterfield canal, Idle Valley nature reserve and Creswell Crags, as well as many other planned and risk assessed routes across open countryside and woodland.
The Wednesday Walk Leader Adventure walks are at a slower pace and cover a shorter distance of 3 1/2 to 4 miles. These are perfect for newly trained nordic walkers, those with health concerns or those who haven’t been on a nordic walk for a while. Walk Leader Adventure walks are led by qualified Walk Leaders Tricia and Liz.
Thursday Adventure walks are based at the National Trust’s Clumber Park where we are lucky enough to have acres of woodland tracks and lakeside footpaths to explore!
We venture off into the quieter parts of the 3,800 acre parkland and explore the less well known heathland and woodland.
We occasionally have a guided nordic walk where we learn interesting tales and facts about this magnificent park which was once one of the Ducal estates.
Tuesday Adventure walks take place at the RSPB Sherwood Forest. This fantastic venue changed week by week and offers a magical adventure in beautiful surroundings.
New for Sherwood Nordic Walking, in collaboration with Bassetlaw Action Centre, we have one-hour Discovery nordic walking classes ideal for beginners. Starting in September 2022 on the first Monday of the month at Kings Park, Retford.
Tracy Hall is Lead Instructor at Sherwood Nordic Walking and along with Walk Leaders Liz and Tricia has regular walks on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at various locations across the area including Thoresby Park, Clumber Park, Langold Country Park, Idle Valley Nature reserve and along the Chesterfield canal.
